‘The Great Manchester Cultural Cookoff’ shortlisted for Manchester Beacon competition
I’m pleased to say that an idea we submitted for Mapping Creativity, a Manchester Beacon project, has been shortlisted! We found out the good news on Friday. Our project idea is called ‘The Great Manchester Cultural Cookoff’, and in essence proposes to create a social website where Mancunians and Salfordians can come together to share recipes and local sources of quality food, by way of nominating a favorite ‘dish’. The top dishes would then take part in a city centre event – a ‘cook off’ if you will – where the dishes would be tasted.
We’ve now got a month or so to develop the idea further, culminating in a final ‘pitching’ session at the end of October, after which the videoed pitches will be available online for the public to vote on.
We’d love to know what you make of the idea. You can comment here, or over on the project page itself.
The three other shortlisted projects are Arc Space Manchester, Community as Curator, and the slightly oddly named http://delicious.com/tag/manchester+beacon.
